The South Fayette Lacrosse Association will be holding an informational meeting on August 16, 2015 at the Cuddy VFW at 7:00 pm. The meeting will cover the new High School Lacrosse program, and all parents are encouraged to attend. Board members and both high school coaches will be present and available to give an overview as well as answer questions. Registration will open at the conclusion of the meeting for the 2016 season for boys in grades 9-12. Registration will be taken online at www.sothfayettelacrosse.com. All athletes interested in participating in the season should register ASAP regardless of availability in the fall or winter.
The registration fee is $300.00/year, which is due at the time of registration. This fee will cover all sessions and applies to all participants. Cash, credit card, or checks payable to SFLA are accepted. A payment plan option will be available. Final payments will be due by December 15, 2015. Participation in off-season tournaments and or indoor practices may require an additional fee that will be predicated based on participation.
US Lacrosse Membership
A membership with US Lacrosse, the sport’s national governing body, is MANDATORY since South Fayette Lacrosse, its players, coaches and all officials receive insurance coverage from US Lacrosse. Annual membership cost is $25.00 per person age 14 and under, $35.00 for ages 15 and up, which is a separate cost from the Registration fees, and is paid directly to US Lacrosse. If you already have a US Lacrosse membership, you must renew your membership as needed to keep it active. Membership can be completed on-line at uslacrosse.org. Players will not be allowed to participate in any practice or game without an active membership.
All players will be required to supply their own equipment. Helmets must be plain white.
All uniforms will be provided to the players by the SFLA. All uniforms will remain the property of SFLA, and will be collected at the conclusion of the season. SFLA will make every effort to secure the preferred jersey number of the players, but is not guaranteed. Before uniforms are distributed, a post-dated check of $125 will be required as a deposit. *Athletes will be responsible for purchasing practice shorts, sweats, etc. that will be required for all practices as outlined by Coach Sealock.
Off Season Practices
Coach Sealock will begin off-season conditioning and skill training September 15th. Practice schedules will be communicated by the coach. Practices will be held in the evenings. Attendance at off-season practices is strongly recommended. Parents are responsible for transportation to all practices.
Teams and Games
For the 2016 season, we will be playing an “independent” club level schedule with plans to compete in the WPIAL for the 2017 season. We anticipate having two men’s teams- a “Varsity” and a “JV” team. Player evaluations will be performed by Coach Sealock and his staff. Tryouts will be held in early March to determine the team rosters. Students at any grade may participate on either team. As with practices, games will be held in the evenings, and parents are responsible for transportation.
High School Requirements
Even though players register through the SFLA, they will also be required to “sign up” in the high school athletic office during the school designated time frame. Athletes must comply with all guidelines and regulations as outlined in the South Fayette High School Athletic Handbook, which will be distributed at the time of high school sign ups. No additional fees will be collected at that time.
The SFLA High School teams will be functioning as a booster funded organization. There will be fundraising opportunities throughout the season, and all families are expected to participate. Two tickets for our annual Rock Night Fundraiser are included in registration and you are welcome to buy more if necessary. Information about additional fundraising opportunities will be communicated at a later time. We welcome volunteers for videotaping, scorekeeping, statistics, and fundraising.
Registration will not be considered complete until payment of all fees has been received and US Lacrosse membership has been completed. You may contact Chuck Lazzini with any questions at 412.327.2636 or at CLazzini@comcast.net
Be a member of the most competitive club organization in Western PA!
The LB Lacrosse Club Program prides itself on fielding the most competitive teams in the area, that will play in top tier tournaments throughout the summer months, with the ultimate goal of being the best at each event. We will put each team in the best possible scenario to be successful on the field.
Along with our on field goal of being the best, we offer our players step-by-step guidance when tackling the always stressful recruiting process. Our staff, who is made up of former college players and coaches, will take the time to come up with a PERSONAL plan for you as an individual, if your goal is to play at the next level.
Wait...there's more! Those that qualify for a roster spot for the 2016 team will be provided with winter skill sessions during the months of December, January and February. These skills sessions will be one night per week, including 1 hour of lacrosse skill building - allowing teammates to get to know each other's strengths and become a better team, preparing them for the summer tournaments; as well as 1 hour of a full strength and conditioning staff preparing our players not only for the summer months - but their spring season -- all of which is taking place at
Green Tree Sportsplex.
In order for LB to put together the most competitive teams possible, we will hold two complete tryout sessions. After these sessions, the staff will select the most qualified players for the 2016 summer teams.
LB Lacrosse is excited to announce the launch of the LB Lacrosse Academy. Our goal is to create a true learning environment for young lacrosse players that promotes the development of their individual skill sets, and knowledge of the game of lacrosse. Our Academy will be held annually during the months of October and November which is typically the time of year that there are limited options available to enhance a player’s development. Our staff of qualified coaches consisting of former professional players and NCAA Division I and II Coaches will implement drills that will enhance a player’s individual skill sets while improving their ability to understand and manage unknown or new facets of the game. To ensure that our players receive quality, individual coaching and instruction; we are limiting our class sizes to 20 players.
During the Academy’s inaugural season we will be offering two classes:
U13 – Mondays 6-8pm (11-12 years of age)
U15 – Tuesdays 6-8pm (13-14 years of age)
Each group will have 8 – 2hr classes, beginning the first week of October 2015, and concluding the last week of November. Classes will be held in the climate-controlled indoor environment of the GreentreeSportsplex. The cost of the Academy is $480.00 per player, which breaks down to $30.00 per hour (group and sibling rates are available).
It is widely known that in order for a player to reach their full potential in the sport of lacrosse, individualized skill work and coaching must be a priority during the off season. LB Lacrosse is committed to the growth of the game and this Academy will offer participating players the opportunity to improve their lacrosse knowledge, skills, and athletic ability through multiple means of representation of the game. This includes individual skill work, group drills, Q&A sessions, chalk talk, and more.
Registration is open and spots are already filling up fast! To register your son for the LB Lacrosse Academy email your player’s full name, phone number, age, and position to LBLacrosseAcademy@gmail.com.
